Hey everyone! Your friendly team lead Tobi here. Welcome to the Friday Scheduled Sides team at MXP Daly City! Please, read the whole e-mail, there are important things all over it :) TEAM & BREAKS: (call time 9:30) [judge redacted] (11:00-12:00/5:30-6:00) Covered by [judge redacted] [judge redacted] (1:30-2:30/ 5:00-5:30) Covered by [judge redacted] Command Zone [judge redacted] (11:30-12:30/5:00-5:30) Covered by [judge redacted] ReCQ [judge redacted] (12:30-1:30/ 6:00-6:30) Covered by [judge redacted] Badge Pickup (call time 8:00) [judge redacted] (11:00-12:00/6:00-6:30) [judge redacted] (1:00-2:00/6:00-6:30) (if your lead gives you different breaks those will override, theoretically you are transferring to sides at around 1:30 but that is also Erin's discretion) EVENT ADDRESS: Cow Palace Arena & Event Center, South Hall 2600 Geneva Ave, Daly City CA 94014 The whole schedule for Swiss events can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Uyt3wmRT8aE7vFY68KlQ7cRBhXOZWXxVk7QfW8x6l3g/edit#gid=1515706896 Website for commander events https://www.laughingdragonevents.com/cmdfst-sf-2024/ Website for the rest of the events https://www.laughingdragonevents.com/mxp-san-francisco/ TASKS: For this event it will not be uncommon for each judge to have several events they are watching at once, because we want the events you're in charge of to be adjacent to each other, the events will be assigned the day of. 30 minutes before your event, you will receive a piece of paper with all the information about your event on it. (it's also attached to this email). While there will likely be other judges to help you launch your event sometimes you may be on your own. Here is a handy checklist of things you need to have figured out before your start time. Round 1/build announcement, pairings board with tape loops and a cover sheet, green gathering point moved to the pairings board, Prize tix for round one or product for build. BREAKS: While your breaks are defined above, please be aware that they may end up changing day-of. Before you leave on break, please check in with me and ensure that any tasks you are currently in the middle of are passed off to someone else. GENERAL PRIZE STRUCTURE: 9 Match Points: 24 Prize Tix 7 Match Points: 17 Prize Tix 6 Match Points: 10 Prize Tix 3 Match Points: 5 Prize Tix 0 Match Points: 3 Prize Tix For rounds one and two you put five Tix on each match for the winner. For round three, any tables that are 2-0 put 14 Tix total on the table. For any matches that are 0-0 put 3 Tix and five Tix on the table. For any downpairs the players will need to report to you at the end of the round for their bonus Tix. FLEXIBILITY: Be ready to change plans. Things happen, and we have people to be flexible. Otherwise, we could just program robots to run events for us. Follow the plan, but be ready to jump into some other tasks if your lead tells you to. Don't blindly follow instructions. If you need help, ask for it. If you need a bathroom break, ask someone around you to cover your floor. Help people around you, if they need a break. Drink water! Listen to yourself, don't overwork, and don't get dehydrated. For the times when you're not running an event or designated to a specific task, I encourage you to look around and see if there are any under-serviced areas and help out, failing that feel free to contact me at any time if you need a designation and I'm sure I can find you somewhere you can help! Thanks for staying with me until the end of this letter! I'm looking forward to working with you soon. Tobi
