Tobias Vyseri
Hey there, I'm Tobias Vyseri! I'm currently looking for remote, part or full time design work, but am open to other types of work as well. I'm available current on a part-time basis and eventually for full-time once my current obligations are taken care of. I am also currently taking commissions. If you think my experience might be useful for something you're working on, feel free to get in touch.
About Me
My professional experience is an eclectic combination of event management with an emphasis on strong communication and interpersonal skills, alongside illustration and design work for print. For more than a decade I’ve worked in environments that require quick decision-making, clear communication, and coordination between large teams. Many of the events I work involve hundreds or thousands of participants and require careful logistical planning to run successfully. I lead teams of anywhere from 4-15 people, coordinating breaks, tasks and other responsibilities. Alongside that work, I operate my own creative business producing printed products. This has given me hands-on experience with product design, customer communication, online storefronts, and order fulfillment. Because much of my work has been freelance or event-based, I’m used to taking responsibility for projects from start to finish and adapting quickly when circumstances change.
Organizational Leadership
I currently serve as the treasurer of Judge Foundry (formerly the Vice President), a nonprofit organization representing more than 1,000 members in North America. The organization is largely volunteer-run, so much of this work involves coordinating across time zones and balancing responsibilities between people with very different schedules. Some of my responsibilities include:
- Overseeing portions of the judge certification process, including management of a certification exam
- Coordinating communication between leadership and the broader judge community
- Participating in operational decision-making for the organization
- Managing administrative records and documentation
- Arranging for dispursement of funds
- Organizing meetings with a worldwide network of judge organizations
- Keeping records of sales and costs for the online storefront
- Interfacing with Quickbooks, Mailchimp, Wordpress, Google Workspace, Stripe and other online tools essential for organizational operation
- Ensuring the accurate and timely filing of the organization's taxes
- Keeping the website up to date with announcements, new learning materials, and organizational information
Event Leadership & Magic Judging
I have been judging Magic: The Gathering events since 2014 and currently hold Level 4 certification. Over that time I have worked 100+ large-scale events across North America and internationally. These events often involve several hundred to a few thousand players and require coordinated teams of judges managing tournament logistics. I have achievied leadership with many different organizations and have ajudicated events at the highest level of organized play. These events require strong teamwork and communication. Judges rely on each other to keep tournaments running smoothly, and clear leadership is essential when unexpected situations arise.
My responsibilities frequently include:
- Leading teams of 10–20 judges
- Coordinating multiple simultaneous tournaments
- Handling complex rules interactions and player disputes
- Ensuring events run on schedule under strict time constraints
- Communicating between players, judges, and event organizers
I have worked with a number of major tournament organizers, including:
Web Design
I have experience designing both print materials and websites, primarily for nonprofit organizations. I'm comfortable working in HTML and CSS as well as with frontend editors such as Wordpress. These projects involve a combination of design, layout, and ongoing site maintenance. Depending on the project, this work includes building and maintaining website layouts, designing graphics and branding elements, organizing content and navigation, and managing updates and technical upkeep. Some of the websites I have designed and maintained include:
- predictionary.markets
- greyhavenbirds.com
- judgefoundry.org
- rulesguru.org
- vyseri.com (my personal website)
Graphic Design & Business Administration
In addition to web work, I also have experience with print-focused graphic design. Earlier in my career I worked as a Graphic Designer at Direct Response Media Group, where I designed direct mail advertisements and menus that would go out to hundreds of people, while working within production constraints and tight deadlines. I've also designed printed materials for various gaming tournaments, including playmats, badges and t-shirts. Independantly I've created a plethora of unique playing card decks and sell through both Etsy and Amazon, in addition to vending at various in-person venues. Over the years this business has reached 14,000+ sales, 3,000+ reviews with a 5/5 average customer rating on Etsy. I've also illustrated all the graphics for JudgeCast's Youtube video series.
Running this business involves managing several operational areas, including:
- Order fulfillment and shipping logistics
- CFustomer service and custom commissions
- Inventory management
- Product design and packaging
